At 5,895 m, Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa. This volcanic massif stands in splendid isolation above the surrounding plains, with its snowy peak looming over the savannah.
About 6 hours into it, I discovered I couldn’t feel my right toes. Since we lost our luggage, we both had to buy new boots in South Africa 3 days before hiking.
Then to Uhuru Peak (19,340ft/5896m), the highest point in Africa. Afterward descend to Mweka hut.
This takes about 4-5 hours. School Camp (4750 m). Day 5: Just after midnight start for the summit via Gillman's point (5700m) for 6-7 hours to Uhuru peak (5895m) - the highest point in Africa!
Now Brett Farve has made it to the Highest Peak in Africa, recently my son Zachary Strack who was raised a packer fan went to Africa on a college program from Stevens Point.
